The Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been concluded and the Australian team after 10-years have captured the trophy from India. It was a riveting series with the hosts winning 3-1 and knocking India out of the WTC finale race.
India won the first Test in Perth by a convincing fashion, but lost the Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney Test as Australia won the series and became the second finalists of the World Test Championship (WTC) finals 2023-25.
The series is done and dusted and now the International Cricket Council (ICC) has given their ratings for all five pitches used in the BGT 2024-25.
Pitch ratings out for BGT 2024-25; Is ICC Bias?
The pitch ratings have been out and Perth, Adelaide, Gabba, Melbourne have received "very good", ratings from the ICC. However, the Sydney pitch, where the match ended inside 8 sessions received a satisfactory rating from the governing body.
While the ratings for all the other pitches look fine, the satisfactory rating given to SCG raises eyebrows. The ball was moving quite a bit and there were also some uneven bounce on the surface.
The Test match got over inside 2.5 days and was one of the shortest Test ever played at SCG. Had the same Test gotten over inside 8 sessions on an Indian pitch, the foreign media would have criticised the BCCI for producing pitches which are not worthy enough for international matches.
However, the same type of surface at the SCG has received a satisfactory verdict, despite the pitch not being upto the mark.
India got bundled out for a paltry 185 in their first innings and the hosts got knocked out for just 181 runs as batters from both the sides struggled to put up runs on the board on a tricky surface.
