Pakistan's premier batter Babar Azam got lucky, as he was dropped on zero by Bangladesh's wicket-keeper Litton Das on day 5 of the first Test between the two teams at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

After Hasan Mahmud got the prized breakthrough of Pakistan skipper Shan Masood, Babar Azam entered the middle to steady the ship alongside opening batter Abdullah Shafique.

However, the batter could've recorded an infamous first-ball duck if not for Litton's dropped catch behind the stumps.

The incident occurred during the 13th over of Pakistan's second innings when Babar had just joined Shafique following Masood's early dismissal.

Bangladesh's prominent pacer Shoriful Islam came over the wicket and bowled a good-length delivery that moved slightly away from Babar after pitching around the off stump.

The experienced batter had a tentative poke at it, with the ball going straight to Litton after taking an outside edge off his bat.

However, the Bangladesh wicket-keeper committed a blunder behind the stumps, dropping a simple catch and giving Babar a lifeline.

However, Babar couldn't capitalise on the missed opportunity, being dismissed by Nahid Rana for 22. His wicket opened the floodgates for Pakistan, as the hosts crumbled like a pack of cards against Bangladesh's rampant bowling unit.

As of writing, Pakistan were reeling at 142/8, with Rizwan and Khurram Shahzad batting in the middle.
