Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant is unlikely to feature in the upcoming clash against RCB scheduled on May 27. According to a viral video on social media, Pant is seen limping while meeting fans with a possible knee injury.
Pant, who was bought for INR 27 crore in the mega auction by LSG, failed to deliver as Lucknow were ousted out of the playoff race. To save their pride, the Super Giants are scheduled to face RCB on May 27.
However, ahead of the final league stage clash, the captain is apparently injured and could miss the contest as a precautionary measure.
Rishabh Pant Appears Injured In New Viral Video
LSG had a good outing last week against GT as they won by 33 runs after posting a giant total of 235 runs in the first inning. Rishabh Pant, the captain, scored an unbeaten 16 off 6 balls, including 2 sixes.
While he appeared fit throughout the game, a new video on social media has raised speculations of a potential injury. The video shows Pant meeting young fans and signing autographs.
However, at the beginning of the clip, he was seen limping with protective gear around his knee. Pant looked in discomfort and clearly struggled with his knee.
Interestingly, after the near-fatal car accident in 2022, the wicketkeeper batter went through multiple surgeries on his knees. Hence, his knees are already sensitive, and if he is in fact injured, LSG might force him on the bench as a precautionary measure.
Rishabh Pant also has a big series coming up next month as he will be touring England for a 5-Test series as India’s vice-captain, which requires him to be fully fit.
Will LSG Bench Pant vs RCB?
Rishabh Pant’s tough IPL 2025 season continues, prompting former India captain Kris Srikkanth to urge LSG to rest him. After LSG’s playoff exit and Pant’s poor form, just 135 runs in 11 matches, Srikkanth believes he’s mentally exhausted and needs a break. Moreover, the injury scare only adds to the misery. Hence, it appears more and more likely for Pant to skip the next game against RCB and prioritise rest and healing.
