The news around Tamim Iqbal’s participation in the upcoming ODI World Cup continues to do the rounds. With only a week left before the tournament kicks off, the Bangladeshi team management is still grappling with issues surrounding Tamim Iqbal’s availability.

The flamboyant left-handed opener was previously left out of the World Cup squad under controversial circumstances. It was later understood that the Bangladeshi veteran was partially unfit and requested to play a only few World Cup games. As a result, Shakib denied his request which later compelled him to force him out of the squad.

The exclusion of Tamim Iqbal from the ODI World Cup squad has caused a fair amount of stir within the cricketing fraternity in Bangladesh. As per the latest developments, the Supreme Court lawyer Al Mamun Russell sent a legal notice on behalf of the General Secretary of Bangladesh Cricket Supporters Group to release Chandika Hathurusingha from the post of head coach of Bangladesh cricket team and include opener Tamim Iqbal in the World Cup squad.

The notice was severely critical of the head coach and demanded his immediate removal from the coaching duties. It was also mentioned that Hathurusingha is a very incompetent coach who only averaged 20.9 in his 35-match long ODI career. Furthermore, the notice also holds Hathurusingha accountable for removing several senior players since assuming the coaching role. Such an irrational move has resulted in 3 shocking ODI series defeats this year against England, Afghanistan, and New Zealand, the notice said.

According to the notice, Tamim Iqbal is Bangladesh's highest run scorer in ODIs and the second most experienced player. Furthermore, the notice claims that Tamim’s omission from the Bangladesh World Cup team was due to a conspiracy.

Meanwhile, the Tigers have arrived in India and are slated to take on Sri Lanka in their first World Cup warm-up fixture on September 29. However, no signs of Tamim remain to be seen at this juncture of the tournament yet.
