In the series final, the Australian batters stepped up the ante big-time as they took the Indian bowlers to cleaners right from the get-go. David Warner and Mitchell Marsh started off the proceedings for the visitors with a bang concluding the first power-play with 90 runs on the board with the fall of just 1 wicket.

Australia’s top three Warner, Marsh, and Smith contributed significantly with the bat and scored at a brisk rate too. At the halfway stage, Australia finished the innings with 352-7.

On a hot day in Rajkot, Jasprit Bumrah was unusually expensive by his standards as he had gone for plenty of runs in his first spell. However, the speedster returned meagrely in the latter spells, to dismantle Alex Carey, Glenn Maxwell and Marnus Labuschagne.

During the last ball of the 37th over, Bumrah bowled a cleverly disguised slower ball at around 124 km/hr. There was width on offer which allowed Carey to free his arms but he did not see the slower ball coming. In the end, he only managed to chip it straight to Virat Kohli at short cover who completed the simplest of the catches.

That brought about an immediate sense of relief for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma who were seen cherishing the dismissal of Carey.

After the fall of the fourth wicket, India were able to make further inroads into the Aussie batting lineup and chipped in with a couple of more wickets. Bumrah returned to bag a couple more wickets.
