Sri Lanka Cricket has hit an all-time low as the Wanindu Hasaranga-led side saw an early exit from the ongoing T20 World Cup. Notably, The Island Nation won just one game in this edition and crashed out of the tournament in the group stage itself. 

The players and the cricket board were under heavy criticism as the pundits and fans slammed the side for their underwhelming performance. Sri Lanka also had a forgettable ICC World Cup 2023. 

Besides the on-field drama, there is a lot of off-field drama surrounding Sri Lanka cricket, as recently former sports minister Roshan Ranasinghe claimed that late-night clubbing was the reason behind Sri Lanka's early wicket. It has been alleged that the team was late for a practice session due to their late night out.

In the latest events, Sri Lankan Sports Minister, Harin Fernando, on Monday, challenged the critics to prove that the alleged nightclub visit had caused the cricket team's premature exit in the ongoing T20 World Cup in the Americas.

"I challenged them (critics) to prove it, and I will resign if they can prove it," Fernando said referring to a comment reportedly made by his predecessor.

Fernando also added that every facilitiwere provided by the cricket governing body to the players.
