India and Australia are all set to meet later on Monday in an all-important T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 match at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium. The two heavyweights went face-to-face in the ODI World Cup last year, where Rohit Sharma and Co. suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the much-anticipated final in Ahmedabad.

You would be surprised to know that India and Australia have never met in T20 World Cups since 2016. We all vividly remember what happened back then, and if you forget by chance, here's the piece for you.

It was a virtual quarter-final between India and Australia, which took place in Mohali. Batting first, Australia posted 160/6, with Aaron Finch top-scoring with a 34-ball 43. In reply, India lost both Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma inside the Powerplay, and were on the verge of elimination.

Then Virat Kohli stepped up like a fighter. Despite losing swashbuckling Suresh Raina later, Kohli kept India in the hunt with a single-handed heroics. Although Yuvraj Singh and (21) and MS Dhoni (18*) chipped in with handy contributions, it was Kohli's unbeaten 51-ball 82, which had nine fours and two sixes, stole the slow.
