On Monday, June 24, BCCI released the 15-member list for India's upcoming five-match T20I tour against Zimbabwe starting on July 6.

The selection committee went ahead with young faces and named Shubman Gill as the captain for the first time. No senior player is present in the 15-member list, which shows that the team is now entering a transition phase.

Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Tushar Deshpande, and Nitish Kumar Reddy have earned their maiden call-up and no member from the current T20 World Cup main squad other than Sanju Samson has been included in the squad for the upcoming series. Here is the 15-member list for the Zimbabwe tour.

India: Ꮪhubman Gill (Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Nitish Reddy, Riyan Parag, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, Tushar Deshpande.

Moments after the squad was made public, the fans took to social media platforms to express their views. The Internet was divided as some celebrated Gill's selection as the captain, while some raised their voices in support of those players who played well in the IPL but failed to catch the selectors' eyes.

Sanju Samson was on top of the trending list as his fan club was unhappy with selectors and BCCI's decision to name Gill as the captain despite Sanju having a better IPL as a captain than Shubman. Here are some of the fans' reactions.

Fans also spoke for players who are underrated and deserve a chance to represent the country.

India will play their first T20I on July 6 at the Harare Sports Club at 4:30 pm IST.
