Team India decimated Bangladesh by 50 runs in the Super Eights to maintain their unbeaten run in the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup. After amassing 196-5 courtesy of a cracking half-century from unbeaten Hardik Pandya, team’s primary spinner Kuldeep Yadav broke through Bangladesh’s middle-order with a sizzling three-wicket haul.

While India’s one-sided win helped them dethrone Australia from the top of the Group 1 points table in the Super Eights, it also helped the ‘Men in Blue’ attain a historic T20 World Cup record.

India level up with SL for huge T20 World Cup record

Team India, also the winners of the inaugural T20 World Cup back in 2007, recorded its 32nd outright win in tournament’s history with their latest triumph over Bangladesh in the Super Eight round of the 2024 edition.

The Sri Lankan cricket team has also recorded 32 wins in T20 World Cup history since their introduction to the tournament in 2007. With India’s win over Bangladesh on June 22, the ‘Men in Blue’ have now levelled up with Sri Lanka in terms of recording the highest number of wins in T20 World Cup matches.

While Sri Lanka have already crashed out of the 2024 T20 World Cup race within the opening round itself, India now has the opportunity to scale the all-time record by upstaging Australia in their upcoming match-up. India’s final Super Eight game, scheduled to be played against Australia on June 24, will be played at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Gros Islet.

A win over Australia will not only extend India’s unbeaten run this tournament, but will also take them past Sri Lanka for the all-time T20 World Cup record. The action will commence from 8:00 PM IST onwards.
