As the visit by a security delegation from New Zealand proves successful, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Wednesday (March 13), confirmed the schedule for the upcoming five-match T20I series at home against the BlackCaps.

The PCB announced New Zealand's third trip to Pakistan since the winter of 2022 when the Kiwis played 2 Tests and 3 ODIs in the land of hospitality, before returning in the middle of 2023 to play five T20Is and as many ODIs.

The BlackCaps, who had hosted the Asian Giants for a five-match T20I series in January, will be travelling to the subcontinent for another set of five T20Is versus their most frequent rivals, with the games due to be held in Rawalpindi and Lahore.

New Zealand will arrive in Pakistan on April 14 and will play five T20Is between April 18 and 27. The first three matches will be held in Rawalpindi on April 18, 20 and 21 before the two teams will shift to Lahore following a three-day break for the final two matches on April 25 and 27.

The series acts as a means of preparation and planning for the two teams ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup in June in the Caribbean & USA.

However, there is a strong likelihood of New Zealand sending a second-string squad for the tour, with the missing players bound to join their respective franchises in the IPL 2024, starting March 22.

For Pakistan, it will be their first assignment upon the completion of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 and their third bilateral T20I assignment in the build-up to the next major ICC event, where the 2009 T20 World Cup champions strive to reclaim the trophy.

The Shaheen Afridi-led side is also due to travel to Ireland and England for two T20I series before travelling to USA for Group A matches of the T20 World Cup alongside arch-rivals India, co-hosts USA, Canada and Ireland.
