New Zealand Cricket (NZC) will reportedly be sending a security delegation to Pakistan to retrospect the venues and team hotels ahead of their planned T20I series.

The two teams are slated to feature in a series of five T20I matches in Pakistan in April. While the series is not a part of ICC’s Future Tours Program, the matches will serve as a testing ground for both sides ahead of this year’s 2024 T20 World Cup.

According to a source close to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), NZC will be sending a security delegation to Pakistan ahead of New Zealand’s five-match T20I series in April.

The delegation will include private security expert Reg Dickason as well as Heath Mills. Notably, Mills is a senior official of the New Zealand Players Association.

The PCB source claimed that the delegation will likely be arriving in early March and will be visiting Lahore and Rawalpindi, considering the two Pakistan cities will possibly be serving as venues for the series. The security delegation will also be attending the team hotels and will be meeting up with government officials to discuss security plans for the visiting ‘Black Caps’.

New Zealand’s previous tour of Pakistan occurred back in April 2023 where the two teams engaged in five T20Is and five ODI matches with each other.

New Zealand’s upcoming planned tour to Pakistan will serve as a return T20I trip, considering the ‘Men in Green’ also travelled to New Zealand for a five-match series earlier this year. Under Kane Williamson and Mitchell Santner’s leadership, the hosts trounced the visiting Pakistan by a 4-1 margin.
