Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain and Indian batsman KL Rahul shared a heartwarming message and congratulated Kolkata Knight Riders as they lifted their third Indian Premier League(IPL) title on Sunday, May 26, 2024.

Shreyas Iyer & company defeated SRH by eight wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium In Chennai to win the IPL 2024 title.

" A team that was consistent throughout the tournament. A team that played an exciting brand of cricket. A team that deserved to win this season. Many congratulations," KL Rahul wrote.

After KL Rahul's congratulatory post, speculations have raised about the LSG captain leaving the Lucknow-based franchise to join his ex-mentor, Gautam Gambhir, in KKR. It is worth mentioning, the LSG captain had a heated argument with LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka after tattering loss to SRH.

Earlier in the final between KKR and SRH, Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat first at the Chepauk. SRH faced an early setback when Mitchell Starc dismissed Abhishek Sharma for 2 in the first over.

In the next over, Vaibhav Arora sent Travis Head back for a duck, leaving SRH struggling at 6/2.

The team never recovered from the initial blows and kept losing wickets, making it difficult to even reach the 100-run mark. However, a brief counter-attack from skipper Pat Cummins down the order helped SRH post a total of 113 before being bowled out in 18.3 overs.

KKR's bowling was dominant, with every bowler taking at least one wicket. Andre Russell was the standout performer, taking 3 wickets for 19 runs.

Mitchell Starc and Harshit Rana claimed 2 wickets each, while Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, and Vaibhav Arora took 1 wicket each.

In reply, KKR also lost an early wicket when Pat Cummins dismissed Sunil Narine in the second over. However, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Venkatesh Iyer steadied the innings, taking KKR past the 100-run mark.

Despite losing Gurbaz for 39 towards the end, captain Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer ensured a smooth chase. KKR clinched their third IPL trophy in the 11th over when Venkatesh Iyer hit a Shahbaz Ahmed delivery for a single, sealing the victory.
