On Sunday, Kolkata Knight Riders had a memorable outing on the field as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final to clinch the IPL 2024 title. Batting first, the Sunrisers surrendered to KKR's rampant bowling unit, being bowled out for a paltry 113-run total.

In response, the Knight Riders chased the modest target without breaking a sweat, riding on Venkatesh Iyer's scintillating fifty.

After KKR won their third IPL trophy, mentor Gautam Gambhir was spotted in a jolly mood at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The legendary Indian ex-cricketer also met BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who congratulated him on the IPL triumph.

Shah and Gambhir also exchanged smiles while the KKR players were busy celebrating. This meet-up holds significant importance from Team India's perspective, with several reports naming Gambhir the front-runner to become India's head coach.

Notably, current Indian head coach Rahul Dravid's contract will terminate after the upcoming T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and United States.

Although the BCCI invited applications for the coach's job, Gambhir is said to be leading the race. Winning the IPL 2024 has only strengthened his case for the post.

Regarding India, the Rohit Sharma-led outfit has reached the United States and will face Bangladesh in their first warm-up game on June 1.
