As the Indian team gears up for the final Test match against England in Dharamsala scheduled for March 7, the focus remains on KL Rahul's availability, clouded by fitness issues. Rahul, who is an integral figure in the Indian setup, finds himself in a race against time to prove his fitness.

Rahul in London for treatment, Bumrah set for comeback after rest

Having been previously pegged at 90 percent fit before the third Test in Rajkot, his condition has prompted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), alongside the National Cricket Academy (NCA) officials, to seek expert consultation abroad.

Reports suggest that KL Rahul has spent the past week receiving treatment, possibly consulting with specialists in London, though official confirmation remains pending. This is due to the persistent stiffness in his right quadriceps—a remnant from surgery last year.

The decision on Rahul's participation in the upcoming Dharamsala Test hangs in the balance, with considerations being made by the BCCI, national selectors, and team management about resting key players, especially in light of India securing the series against England with a 3-1 lead. His role as a keeper-batsman along with his potential for the T20I World Cup and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy later in the year are the reason behind the board’s cautious approach regarding his fitness.

On the contrary, Jasprit Bumrah is slated for a return to the squad for the Dharamsala Test after being rested for the match in Ranchi. The team management is also contemplating resting additional players to manage workloads effectively.

The Indian squad, along with their English counterparts, is scheduled to assemble in Chandigarh by March 2, ahead of their chartered flight to Dharamsala on March 3. While the hosts will look to end the series on a high, the visitors will aim to play for their pride and secure a win.
