Narendra Modi Stadium Capacity

The grand makeover of the Narendra Modi Stadium involved the same team that constructed the Statue of Unity. The project reportedly cost Rs 800 crore. One of the main challenges was to ensure unobstructed views of the field for all 132,000 seats.

The 132,000-seat stadium more than doubles the capacity of the old stadium and holds 32,000 more people than Australia’s iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground which is the second-largest stadium in the world.

Narendra Modi Stadium Pitch Report

With the pitch typically offering a good batting surface in the initial stages of the game, teams should look to maximize their run-scoring in these stages. As the game progresses, batting tends to get more difficult due to the turning and variable pace of the pitch.

The climate in Ahmedabad is divided into three major seasons: the monsoon season (June to September), winter (October to February), and summer (March to May).

  • During the monsoon season, the city receives heavy rainfall, which can affect play if there are matches scheduled during this period.
  • Winter is the mildest season with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 30°C. The climate during these months is relatively dry and is considered the best time for sporting events.
  • Summer, on the other hand, is extremely hot, with temperatures often reaching above 40°C. In these conditions, cricket games are usually scheduled during the evening or night to avoid the extreme daytime heat.
