Rohit Sharma celebrates his 38th birthday on Wednesday, April 30 and the cricketing world can’t help but raise a toast to the ‘Hitman’. The legendary batter has given fans countless reasons to celebrate over the years, from iconic double tons in ODIs to the recent ICC title wins to lifting IPL trophies like it’s a habit, Rohit’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary.

As wishes pour in, it’s the perfect time to look back at some of Rohit Sharma's most unique and unmatched records in IPL history.

First Indian To Bag 20 Player Of The Match Awards

Rohit Sharma has walked away with the Player of the Match award in the IPL 20 times. And no other Indian batter has done that. The latest came in the 2025 clash against Chennai Super Kings, where he lit up the night with a classy 76-run knock.

He wasn’t just striking the ball sweetly, he rolled back the years and reminded everyone why he’s still the big-stage boss. When you have got 20 POTMs in a league full of global stars, you are not just good, you are box-office.

The Only Player With 6000+ Runs And A Hattrick In IPL

Most fans remember Rohit for his bat but some forget he has also got a hat-trick up his sleeve. Back in 2009, when he was still a rising star at Deccan Chargers, Rohit pulled off a surprise with the ball and took a hat-trick against Mumbai Indians!

Fast forward to 2023, he crossed the 6,000-run mark, and now, in 2025, he sits on a jaw-dropping 6,868 IPL runs, second only to Virat Kohli’s 8300+ mountain.

So yes, he is the only guy in IPL history with a bat that’s produced thousands of runs and a ball that’s delivered a hat-trick.

Joint-Most IPL Titles As Captain And Player

When it comes to silverware, Rohit’s trophy cabinet is bursting at the seams. He has led Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles and not just over a dragged-out career, he did it in just 10 seasons as captain. Only MS Dhoni has matched him, and we all know what league that puts Rohit in.

But, there iss more. Before his MI days, he already had an IPL title with Deccan Chargers in 2009, giving him a total of six IPL titles as player and captain, a record only shared with Ambati Rayudu. Winning is a habit, and for Rohit, it’s almost a reflex.

The Only IPL captain With Two Fifties In Finals

Rohit Sharma has always been the guy who turns up when the lights are brightest. He is the only captain in IPL history to smash two fifties in finals.

In 2015, he played a stunning knock of 50 off 26 balls against Chennai Super Kings and walked away with Player of the Match in the final.

In 2020, he hammered 68 off 51 in the final against Delhi Capitals and sealed another title for MI. Not many captains deliver with the bat in the finals. But Rohit? He delivered twice, under the pump with trophies on the line.
