Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Sunday, June 8.

Khaleel Ahmed Fights Back For India A

Indian fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed fought back for India A against England Lions on Day 3 of the second unofficial Test in Northampton. In pursuit of India A’s first innings total of 348, the hosts raced to 219-3 on the third morning. Hitherto wicketless Khaleel delivered the much-needed breakthrough for India A with the prized scalp of a well-set Jordan Cox. The speedster also nagged the wickets of James Rew, George Hill and Chris Woakes over the course of his next three overs as England Lions slipped from 219-3 to 229-7 in the space of just 30 minutes.

Overall, Ahmed finished with exceptional figures of 4-70 as India A wrapped up England Lions for 327 to secure a handy 21-run lead.

Shubman Gill And Co. Begin Training For England Tests

The Indian cricket team, led by Shubman Gill, commenced training in England for the upcoming five-match Test series against the hosts. In a social media post shared by the BCCI, captain Gill can be seen warming up with fellow Indian players Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna and young Sai Sudarshan.

Team India is scheduled to face England for a five-match WTC Test series from June 20 onwards later this month in Headingley, Leeds.

Heinrich Klaasen Explains Decision Behind SA Retirement

Heinrich Klaasen has explained the reason behind his sudden retirement for South Africa from international cricket. While speaking to local publication Rapport, the explosive wicketkeeper-batter recalled his conversation with South Africa head coach from prior to the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year. Klaasen also claimed that it came to a point where he stopped caring about South Africa winning games or not, prompting him to prioritize franchise cricket going forward instead after his contract negotiations with the CSA did not go as planned.

Tickets For India-England Tests Sold Out

The tickets for India’s upcoming five-match Test series in England against the hosts have been nearly sold out. As reported by Revsportz, who attributed the data to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), only a few tickets are still available for the series. As per the data, multiple days for the third Test at Lord’s have been sold out, while only a handful of tickets for Days 4 of the first two Tests in Headingley and Edgbaston are remaining.

Holder, Shepherd Tonk Adil Rashid But England Claim Series

Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd collectively rained down five huge sixes off a single 31-run Adil Rashid over to fire West Indies to a monumental 196-6 from 20 overs in the second T20I match in Bristol. Johnson Charles and captain Shai Hope also cracked swift 40s, while England’s Luke Wood unfurled the spell of the high-scoring innings with figures of 2-25.

In spite of Holder and Shepherd’s blitzkrieg, England chased down their 197-run target with four wickets and nine balls intact in the game to seal the series 2-0. Jos Buttler top-scored in the chase with an attacking 47, while Tom Banton smeared 30* from just 11 balls towards the end.
