Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd went berserk against English spinner Adil Rashid during the slog overs of the second T20I match at the County Ground in Bristol. The two cricketers blasted 42 runs together for the sixth wicket from just 14 deliveries after forming forces at 148-5 in 17.3 overs.

Holder and Shepherd’s late carnage catapulted West Indies to a competitive 196-6 by the completion of their innings.

Jason Holder launched ace English spinner Adil Rashid for three huge sixes to start off the penultimate over of the West Indies innings. Taking a single towards short fine leg and tagging partner Romario Shepherd off the fourth ball, the Guyanese cricketer piled on Rashid’s misery by whacking two more sixes to extract 31 runs from the over. Their collective belligerence ensured Adil Rashid finished his four-over quota with expensive figures of 1-59, as West Indies mounted 196-6 from 20 overs in the must-win second T20I match.

Jason Holder smeared two more boundaries in the final over of the innings, albeit against Mark Wood to slap a sparkling cameo of 29* from just nine balls. Shepherd tonked 19 off 11 before falling to a run out from Jos Buttler in the penultimate ball of the last over.

Prior to the match, England opted to field first after winning the toss. West Indies opener Johnson Charles crafted 47 off 39 balls and shared a fighting 90-run partnership with captain and number three batter Shai Hope (49 from 38). Rovman Powell also whacked 34 from just 15 balls with three fours and two huge sixes to counter the likes of Brydon Carse, Jacob Bethell and Liam Dawson.

For England, Luke Wood unfurled the spell of the high-scoring innings with figures of 2-25.
