Intense Training Session Begins! Shubman Gill's Team India Put In Hard Yards In England

The stage is almost set as the visitors, India, will take on England in a riveting 5-match Test series which kick-off from June 20 at Headingley, Leeds. A new era begin in the Indian cricket as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from the format and Shubman Gill was appointed the new captain.

Team India's new era begins under Gambhir-Gill

The entire side touched down in England on Saturday and began their intense training session. It started with some light running to loosen up and then the players were indulged in some Football activities. Meanwhile, senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah was involved in a conversation with bowling coach, Morne Morkel, while head coach, Gautam Gambhir was involved in some tactical decision-making.

The first day of training was all about light drills before the second day where most likely the batters will be involved in some net practice to get used to the English conditions. Hence, the first day of Indian training was intense but it also involved some tactical work as well.

Challengers for India on England tour

Touring in SENA nations is always a tricky task for an Asian team and the upcoming Test series will provide a stern test for the new captain-coach pair. The team lacks in experience but have talented youngsters and they will be given a hard time by the English players.

Plus, the pitches in all five Tests of the tour will be a different challenge and the batters and the bowlers need to acclimatise with it.

To get a feel of the English conditions and the pitch behaviour, Team India will play a one-off warm up match against India A side. The A team is already in England and have already played an unofficial Test match Vs England Lions.
