Kent have bolstered their fast bowling attack for the remaining County Championship season by roping in Surrey pacer Conor McKerr on loan.

The 24-year-old will be available for Kent's final two fixtures, against Hampshire, starting September 20, and Somerset, starting September 26 at home.

McKerr, the former South Africa Under-19 international player has picked up 44 wickets in 17 First-Class matches, with 5/54 being his best figures so far.

The Johannesburg-born also holds the record of being the youngest bowler to scalp 10 wickets in a match. McKerr achieved this landmark during his loan-impacted stint with Derbyshire back in 2017.

Earlier, the struggling Kent side suffered huge blows with Matt Milnes and captain Sam Billings sustaining back and groin injuries respectively. Jordan Cox also made himself unavailable after being called-up by the national side for the historic tour of Pakistan.

The Spitfires suffered a humiliating loss by an inning and 260 runs at the hands of Essex last week. Heading into their final two fixtures with Conor McKerr bracing their fast bowling attack, Kent will be looking to spark a turnaround and avoid finishing at the bottom of the table.

Kent, with two wins, five losses and as many drawn matches are currently placed eighth and are level on points with second-bottom Warwickshire in the championship points table.
