Jamaica Tallawahs bagged their fourth win of the season and brought an end to Barbados Royals' winning streak of six games to hand them their maiden defeat of the season on Thursday, September 15.

The Rovman Powell-led outlet rode on disciplined bowling performance and Brandon King's belligerent knock to eke out a narrow six-runs victory (via DLS method) in the rain-affected fixture of the Caribbean Premier League 2022 at Queen's Park Oval.

Chasing 147 to win, Brandon King and Amir Jangoo provided the Tallawahs a royal start, stitching up a phenomenal opening partnership of 53-runs in just 4.3 overs.

Though Jangoo perished after scoring 29 off 18 balls, Shamarh Brooks didn't let the momentum slip off from Jamaica Tallawahs hands as he joined the forces in the middle and cobbled up a 46-run stand with King.

Later, rain interruption after the 10th over saw Jamaica Tallwahs losing wickets in a flurry but by the time rain hit the match the second time, Jamaica was six runs ahead of the Duckworth and Lewis stern adjusted target and hence won the match.

From Barbados Royals' camp, Jason Holder and Obed McCoy starred with the ball. While Holder finished up with a three-wicket haul, the left-arm pacer went on to pick two wickets in his three overs spell while conceding just 19 runs.

Quinton de Kock's half-century knock went in vain

Earlier, a brilliant late onslaught by Quinton de Kock (74 off 43 balls) and a breezy cameo from skipper David Miller (34 off 27) helped Barbados Royals reach a modest 146/6 in 20 overs.

De Kock and Miller came together with Barbados struggling at 47/4 and forged up an 83-run partnership for the fifth wicket to take their team to a fighting total at the end of the first inning.

On the bowling front, the left-arm spinner Imad Wasim was the most impactful bowler for Jamaica, having picked up a three-wicket haul in his three overs spell while conceding just 14 runs. The likes of Mohammad Amir, Fabian Allen, and Nicholson Gordon have also grabbed one wicket apiece.

Brief Score:

Barbados Royals: 146/6 (20 Overs)

Quinton de Kock: 74 (43), David Miller 34 (27);
Imad Wasim 3-14 (3), Fabian Allen 1-14 (2)

Jamaica Tallawahs: 126/5 (17 Overs)

Brandon King 46 (33), Amir Jangoo 29 (18);
Jason Holder 3-33 (4), Obed McCoy 2-19 (3)

Jamaica Tallawahs won by six runs (via DLS Method).
