Kent top-order batter and an occasional keeper, Jordan Cox is delighted to be joining the England squad for the seven-match T20I series against Pakistan, which will commence later this month.
Cox received the national call-up due to his consistent performances in domestic cricket. In the T20 Blast 2022, he slammed 365 runs in 14 matches.
In the Hundred Men's competition, Cox garnered 191 runs in six innings at a prolific strike rate of 143.60.
Interestingly, the 21-year-old was the youngest player to hit a half-century in the T20 Blast Final last year, during his riveting knock of 58 off 28 balls, which also helped Kent to lift the trophy.
Before leaving for Pakistan, Cox revealed that he was surprised by the selection, despite his impressive domestic run in the last two years.
"I still can't really believe it now," he said. "Obviously it's an absolute honour to represent your country, especially at 21. When I was a kid, I really wanted to play cricket but I didn't realise this [an England call-up] was going to happen as quickly as it has. It must mean they think I'm a good player, which means a lot."
