The Lahore High Court has postponed the hearing of the sexual harassment case filed against Pakistan star Babar Azam. The case, which was scheduled for December 12, 2024, will now be heard on December 16, 2024. Babar Azam's legal team, led by Barrister Haris Azmat, was absent from the December 12 hearing, and the court granted a request for adjournment from Babar's junior lawyer.

The delay in the hearing only adds to the ongoing drama that has persisted for years, raising significant questions about Babar Azam's character in his personal life. Consequently, the harassment case brought forward by a woman claiming to be a close acquaintance of Babar has become a source of public gossip.

What are the false allegations that is costing Babar his reputation?

Hamiza Mukhtar, the complainant, alleged that Babar Azam promised to marry her but later exploited her sexually. She claimed that she was forced to undergo an abortion and that the cricketer failed to fulfil his promise after achieving fame. Notably, Mukhtar has also presented medical documents to support her claims.

The case has been ongoing since 2021, and Mukhtar alleged that the police refused to file an FIR after she reported incidents of "blackmail and fornication." These doubtable legal proceedings have also garnered significant public attention in Pakistan.

Babar gets temporary relief

In an earlier hearing, the court, however, dismissed the case filed by Hamiza against Babar Azam. After a thorough investigation, the police submitted a report to the court stating that neither Mukhtar nor her family members were subjected to blackmail or harassment by the police at the behest of Azam's family. The court, after reviewing the report, dismissed the petition, which effectively cleared Azam of the allegations. However, the final verdict is yet to be unfolded.

While justice gets delayed, the Pakistan skipper is currently leading his team in the T20I series against South Africa, delaying and denying the win for his team as the Proteas have already dominated the Men in Green in the first encounter. SA will take on PAK again on Friday at SuperSport Park, Centurion.
