Vinod Kambli, the once-stylish explosive cricketer of India, has recently opened up about his relationship with childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar. The two reunited at the unveiling of their coach Ramakanth Achrekar's memorial, sparking a buzz amongst fans.

Despite Kambli's unwell appearance, he expressed happiness at reconnecting with his long-time friend. Kambli and Tendulkar embarked on their cricketing journeys together, forming crucial partnerships at the school level and later representing Team India.

Kambli and Sachin's shared experiences in the international arena further strengthened their bond. However, their friendship turned pale in 2009 when Kambli publicly accused Tendulkar of neglecting him during difficult times.

In a recent interaction, Kambli clarified the situation, revealing that Tendulkar has consistently supported him, even financially, by covering the costs of his two surgeries in 2013. He attributed his past accusations to a period of frustration and admitted that his words were spoken in the heat of the moment.

“At that time, it came to my mind that Sachin didn’t help. I was extremely frustrated. But Sachin did everything for me, including paying for my two surgeries in 2013. We spoke, and childhood friendship came forward,” Kambli said.

Kambli didn't step back while commending Sachin. He emphasised that it was Sachin who played a big role in his cricket career. He also recalled moments when their coach had cherishable moments with them during one of their matches.

"Sachin told me how to play. I made nine comebacks. We are cricketers; we get hurt. When we get out, we also get hurt. The double hundred at Wankhede, I will cherish the most. Achrekar sir was with me, and we had such a great team. I used to have fun battles with Muttiah Muralitharan and our other opponents" Kambli added.

Kambli concluded by thanking Sachin and his family hinting no estrangement with Tendulkar as he said he was grateful for having Sachin and his family by his side.

"My journey wasn’t perfect, but I gave it my all. I’m grateful for the support of my family and friends like Sachin," concluded Kambli.

Kambli though, has been facing a challenging period in recent times. He has been struggling with major health issues since 2013 when he suffered a heart attack while driving in Mumbai. The 52-year-old, who walked shoulder to shoulder with the God of Cricket back in his days, now struggles with his finances too which only adds to his health woes.
