Leicestershire pacer, Josh Hull is all set to make his debut against Sri Lanka in the 3rd Test, starting from September 6.

England have already announced their playing XI, and with the series already in the bag, the team management has decided to give Hull a chance to make his mark in the 3rd game of the series against a struggling Sri Lankan batting lineup.

Potts omitted despite strong performance at Lord's

England have been ruthless in their approach in the first two Tests. They won the first match by 5-wickets, and followed it up with a ruthless 190-run victory in the second Test at the Lord's stadium.

In both the matches, Sri Lanka had the upper hand, but they allowed the game to slip away from their grasp. Talking about the English playing XI, they have made just a solitary change, with Hull replacing Matthew Potts, who bowled superbly in the Lord's game. Expected Woakes to sit out, but his batting is too valuable for this English side.

The rest of the squad remains the same, as the English side look to white-wash the Lankan Lions 3-0.

Talking about the last Test, it was a Joe Root show, as the former Test captain slammed twin centuries to win the game for his side. He was amply supported by Gus Atkinson, who scored a terrific ton and also bagged a 5-wicket haul to maul the opposition batters.

Who is Josh Hull, the 6ft 7 inches tall pacer

Hull's first-class numbers don't look promising. The Leicestershire speedster has a bowling average of 84.55 in 9 matches, and is yet to impress with his bowling.

So, why have England handed him a debut cap? At 6ft 7 inches, Hull provides a new dimension to the English attack. While all the other pacers, Atkinson, Woakes, Potts are conventional swing bowler, Hull is a bowler of differet breed.

He is someone who can utilise his height and can generate extra bounce from the surface. England have also selected him, keeping in mind the next Test series in Pakistan. The pitches there will be flat, and Hull can be someone who can produce a miracle out of nowhere.
