The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has begun its hunt in finding the next head coach of the senior Indian men’s cricket team. Former Indian batter Rahul Dravid, who was appointed as national coach back in November 2021 following India’s crashing exit from the 2021 T20 World Cup, is set to conclude his reign after the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA.

While BCCI secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that Rahul Dravid can re-apply for the top job, it seems like the former cricketer is not too keen on continuing as India’s head coach.

On May 13, the BCCI shared a post on social media where they invited potential candidates to submit their applications for the position of Head Coach of the Senior Men’s Team. However, instead of meeting their ideal criteria, the BCCI ended up receiving hordes of Indian fans who hilariously signed up on the designated application link.

By sharing an open link for candidates to submit their applications for the position of India’s head coach, the BCCI ended up receiving submissions from numerous Indian cricket fans instead. Several fans hilariously took to X (formerly Twitter) and submitted their applications. Here is a look at how some of the fans reacted to BCCI’s invitations:

The BCCI is also looking at potential oversees candidates to succeed Rahul Dravid as India’s head coach.

Former Australian coach Justin Langer has even expressed his desire of coaching the Indian team. The cricketer recently described the coaching job of Team India an “extraordinary role” when he was asked to express his views on the vacancy.
