‘Nobody Is Great…’ Ganguly Hails DC Skipper Rishabh Pant On Heroic Return For IPL 2024

Rishabh Pant led Delhi Capitals to an emphatic 19-run win over LSG to conclude their IPL 2024 campaign in match number 64 of the tournament. The outcome ensured that Capitals finished at number five on the IPL 2024 points table, i.e., just outside the playoffs reckoning.

Even though Rishabh Pant and co. have a tough task to qualify for IPL playoffs, the Capitals skipper recently received a significant praise from former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly.

Ganguly believes Pant will become better as leader

Delhi Capitals’ Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly praised Rishabh Pant over making a comeback to competitive cricket for the entirety of IPL 2024 despite laying low for nearly 15 months owing to the injuries he sustained during December 2022’s car accident.

While speaking on JioCinema, he said:

“Pant is a young captain, he'll learn with time. The way he returned from injury to play a full season; we had our doubts during the off-season. Indian players are crucial, especially since the TATA IPL shifted to 10 teams. I am very happy for him that he returned to play so well over a full season. He has all my well-wishes for whatever is next.”

Sourav Ganguly also believes that Rishabh Pant will become a better skipper with time and the dashing wicketkeeper-batter is already an “instinctual captain”. He added:

“With time, he'll become a better captain. Nobody is a great captain from day one, but he is an instinctual captain, he makes decisions on the ground. With more time, he'll get better.”

Rishabh Pant tallied 446 runs across 13 innings of IPL 2024 at an average of over 40. The cricketer also maintained an astonishing strike-rate of 155.40 and registered three half-centuries in the process.

While the Capitals still hold an outside chance of qualifying for the IPL 2024 playoffs, Pant will soon be seen gracing India’s iconic blue at the 2024 T20 World Cup next month in USA and West Indies.
