Jay Shah, the current secretary of BCCI was elected as the ICC chairman on Tuesday, 27th of August. His selection to the post was unopposed with even Pakistan cooperating with other countries despite the issue of Champions Trophy been the bone of contention.

Now, Rashid Latif, the former wicketkeeper batter and captain of Pakistan has shared his thoughts on Jay Shah's appointment and expressed his confidence that Jay Shah's appointment will work in favour of Pakistan.

Rashid Latif Reveals Reason Of Pakistan Not Opposing Jay Shah's Appointment

Rashid said that PCB did not oppose the appointment of Jay Shah because there is an understanding that he would support the plan of India travelling to Pakistan for Champions Trophy 2025.

"PCB has not opposed Shah's appointment for a reason. I think there's an understanding. If India's team comes, it will be because of Jay Shah’s efforts, along with support from their government."

Rashid also stated that the approval is already halfway granted and India is indeed coming to Pakistan and sounded very optimistic about Jay Shah and the role he will perform for ensuring cooperation between India and Pakistan.

"Approval has already been halfway granted. India is coming to Pakistan."

Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to start on 19th of February and is to be played completely in Pakistan as of now. However, India have been pushing for a hybrid model like they did for the Asia Cup 2023, and it would be interesting to see Jay Shah's appointment as ICC head affect the nature of the tournament.
