The BCCI secretary Jay Shah is in full swing with his work as he and his team have to make a lot of decisions shortly.

Firstly, the board needs to take a call on the mega-auction as the Roger Binny-led board recently held a meeting with IPL owners, where the table was divided into two. One Section opted for more retentions and no-mega auctions, while others wanted the board to continue with their IPL tradition.

In the latest events, speaking with Times of India, Jay Shah hinted at IPL 2025 getting bigger, as he remarked that the cash-studded league might now expand to 84 games from the usual schedule of 74 games. However, he added that the decision rests with BCCI. He Said:

"Nothing is confirmed. We will collectively decide. We also have to factor in the workload of the players and the window also. It's in the contract but it is up to the BCCI to decide."

Until IPL 2021, there were only 60 games, but with the introduction of Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants, the league was expanded to 74 games.

Jay Shah Breaks Silence On Mega-Auction Saga

Shah stated that the board will listen to every franchise and will not leave any voice unheard even if it is in the minority.

"We've heard the views of all the franchises. For us, a minority view is as important as the majority opinion. Ultimately the office-bearers (of the BCCI) will decide. Those who have a good side said there is no need for the big auction and those without a good side wanted the big auction. Continuity is important as shuffling, for the growth of the game," Said Shah.

New WPL Team For Season 3?

In the same meeting, Shah stated that the board will introduce a new team when they feel confident of adding one more team to the mix.

"Once I'm confident that we can add more women players into the mix, we will add an extra side."

Talking about women's cricket, Shah recently confirmed that India will not host the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 amid the reports of tournament moving out of Bangladesh because of protests.
