In the latest development, Devon Conway and Finn Allen have decided to opt out of New Zealand Cricket's (NZC) central contracts and join a growing list of players prioritising franchise cricket opportunities.

Finn Allen has also declined the central contract but was not offered a casual contract like Devon Conway. His availability for New Zealand will now be considered on a case-by-case basis.

According to the reports of cricbuzz, Devon Conway has accepted a casual playing contract and confirmed his availability for most international fixtures.

He will make himself available for all nine upcoming Tests, the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan, and a tri-series against Pakistan and South Africa.

He will miss the T20 and ODI series against Sri Lanka in December and January.

"The decision to move away from a central playing contract isn't one I've taken lightly, but I believe it is the best for me and my family at this present time. Playing for the Black Caps is still the pinnacle for me and I'm hugely passionate about representing New Zealand and winning games of international cricket," Conway said.

His decision was influenced by an offer to play in South Africa's T20 competition, likely with the Johannesburg Super Kings, a franchise linked to his IPL team, the Chennai Super Kings.

This trend follows the earlier decisions of former captain Kane Williamson and fast bowlers Lockie Ferguson and Adam Milne, who also chose to opt out of central contracts.

This decision came in favour of more flexible arrangements that will allow them to participate in various franchise leagues around the world.  NZ is expected to announce replacements for Conway and Allen on the central contract list soon.
