Despite objections from KKR and SRH owners, BCCI is likely to stay firm at their stance and will host the mega auction ahead of IPL 2025.

In a meeting on July 31, KKR owner, Shah Rukh Khan and SRH owner, Kavya Maran wanted the mega auction to be scrapped, since they wanted continuity, and wanted the core of the squad to remain the same.

A few other owners also wanted the mega auction to take place every five years, but the idea wasn't appealing to the board, and as per reports, they have made up their minds to host the auction.

The board has allowed the franchises to retain 6-8 players through retention and Right to Match. The board will finalize the details and a report regarding IPL 2025 auction, and retention will be completed by the end of the month.

Delhi Capitals co-owner, Parth Jindal recently revealed that he is up for a mega auction in every three years. He stated that there was a debate on the future of mega auction, but to have a competitive tournament, it is important to have a strong squad as well.

The future of the impact player rule was also discussed, as few franchises wanted to get rid off it, since it stops the growth of an all-rounder.
