Jay Shah, the honorary secretary of BCCI has been appointed as the chairman of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) for the third consecutive time, according to a report from Press Trust of India (PTI). The Asian Cricket Council is the apex body that manages cricket in Asia and various big events like Asia Cup.

There were rumours that Jay Shah will let go his ACC chairmanship for a top post in ICC, however, it seems that he has let go that plans and is ready to lead Asian Cricket Council again.

Jay Shah first became the chairman of ACC in 2021 and became the youngest to hold the post.

ACC Structure and roles

The ACC is a powerful organisation which has 28 members and grabbed lot of eyeballs in 2023 when it decided to plan Asia Cup in a hybrid model. Along with Asia Cup, there are plenty of other important events at different age-levels that ACC manages and works in coordination with various national boards for the development of cricket in Asia.

Jay Shah has emerged as one of the most powerful administrators in Indian cricket in recent times and, we can expect him to take some big decisions in his third term of ACC as well.
