Indian cricketer Mayank Agarwal was hospitalized after experiencing a health scare just before his flight to New Delhi was set to depart on Tuesday evening. Agarwal, who is captaining the Karnataka team in Ranji Trophy 2023-24, was rushed to the hospital under alarming circumstances.

Mayank Agarwal files police complaint after flight incident

The situation unfolded as Agarwal, who was traveling with IndiGo Airlines, mistakenly consumed a liquid from a pouch, mistaking it for water, which led to immediate health complications. Following this distressing incident, he is now reported to be out of danger, with his condition stabilized.

In response to this concerning event, a police complaint has been filed on behalf of Agarwal by his manager, seeking a thorough investigation into the matter. SP West Tripura Kiran Kumar, in a statement to the press, confirmed that Agarwal's manager had lodged a complaint with the New Capital Complex Police Station to probe the incident.

According to the police official's account, Agarwal experienced severe irritation in his mouth shortly after consuming the liquid, which was followed by an inability to speak. He was promptly taken to ILS hospital, where he was treated for swelling and ulcers in his mouth. Thankfully, his vital signs were reported to be normal.

"Mayank Agarwal (is) an international cricket player. Now, he is stable, and his vitals are normal. But his manager has lodged a specific complaint under NCCPS (New Capital Complex Police Station) to investigate the matter," said West Tripura SP Kiran Kumar.

Meanwhile, Agarwal, a seasoned player with 21 Test appearances for India, had recently led Karnataka to a 29-run victory against Tripura on Monday. However, due to this unforeseen health crisis, he will be unable to participate in the upcoming Ranji Trophy game against Railways in Surat.

In his absence, Nikin Jose, the designated vice-captain, is expected to take over the captaincy for Karnataka's next match.
