Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup winning captain served as the country’s Prime Minister between 2018 and 2022. Imran Khan was arrested from his Lahore residence back in August 2023 over the Toshakhana case.

According to Geo News, Khan was sentenced to 14 years in jail over the case by anti-graft court in Islamabad on January 31. The case alleges that the ex-cricketer “deliberately concealed” details of the gifts he retained from Toshakhana during his time as Pakistan’s Prime Minister.

Just a day prior to his 14-year sentencing, Imran Khan was also handed a 10-year jail term for leaking state secrets.

As of now, it remains to be seen whether Imran Khan’s sentences will run consecutively or concurrently.

A legendary all-rounder before entering politics, Khan made his international debut with a Test match in 1971 against England at Birmingham. He went on to represent his country in 88 Tests and 175 ODI matches until his retirement in 1992.

Moreover, Khan also led Pakistan to their lone World Cup win in his retirement year, by defeating England in a thrilling finale at the MCG.
