Jay Shah Announces Major Reform In Domestic Cricket; Introduces Prize Money In Women Events

On Monday, August 26, BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced a major reform in domestic cricket. Shah introduced cash rewards in domestic tournaments in men's and women's categories for player of the match and player of the tournament category. 

“We are introducing prize money for the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament in all Women’s and Junior Cricket tournaments under our Domestic Cricket Programme. Additionally, prize money will be awarded for the Player of the Match in the Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournaments for Senior Men,” Shah posted.

“This initiative aims to recognize and reward outstanding performances in the domestic circuit. A heartfelt thank you to the Apex Council for their unwavering support in this endeavour. Together, we are fostering a more rewarding environment for our cricketers. Jai Hind,” he added.


Jay Shah Frontrunner For ICC Chairman Post

After current ICC chairman Greg Barcley announced that he would not return for his 3rd tenure, there were reports that Jay Shah is the frontrunner for the chairman post.

The last date for filing the nominations for the prestigious post is August 27, and according to the reports, if Shah does file his interest, then he has the support of a maximum number of members within the ICC. 

The reports also mentioned that current DDCA president Rohan Jaitley is the favourite to replace Shah for the BCCI secretary post.
