No Rashid Khan As Afghanistan Name 20-Member Squad For New Zealand Test In Noida

On Monday, August 26, the Afghanistan cricket board announced a 20-member preliminary squad for the upcoming one-off Test against New Zealand from September 9-13 at Greater Noida. 

The ACB took to Twitter to name the preliminary squad. Hashmatullah Shahidi will lead the young-looking side, as Ibrahim Zadran, Gulbadin Naib, and Azmatullah Omerzai are the key names included in the 20-member list.

Meanwhile, Rashid Khan, who last played a Test match in 2021, continues to not be in the Afghanistan board's plan for red-ball cricket.

Hashmatullah Shahidi (captain), Ibrahim Zadran, Riaz Hassan, Abdul Malik, Rahmat Shah, Baheer Shah Mahboob, Ikram Alikhel (wk), Shahidullah Kamal, Gulbadin Naib, Afsar Zazai (wk), Azmatullah Omarzai, Ziaurrahman Akbar, Shamsurrahman, Qais Ahmad, Zahir Khan, Nijat Masoud, Farid Ahmad Malik, Naveed Zadran, Khalil Ahmad and Yama Arab.

Afghanistan Appoints Former India Fielding Coach For New Zealand Test

Recently, Afghanistan announced that they roped in former India fielding coach R. Sridhar as the assistant coach of the Afghanistan team for New Zealand and South Africa series. Sridhar has also served as coach for India's U19 team and Punjab Kings as well.

Talking about New Zealand, they have also announced their squad for the upcoming one-off Test, which will be led by Tim Southee.
