In a significant development, ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been released from the Indian squad and won't participate in the second ODI against Australia in Indore. The veteran speedster hasn't travelled with the team to the venue, with Mukesh Kumar replacing him for this match.
As tweeted by the BCCI, Bumrah has been given a short break by the team management to spend some time with his family. However, the 29-year-old will rejoin the team for the deciding third ODI in Rajkot.
Notably, Bumrah, after missing plenty of cricket due to a back injury, finally made his national comeback in the Asia Cup 2023. Hailed for his pace and accuracy, he played a pivotal role in leading India to the title, scalping four wickets at a stunning economy of 4.18. He also bowled an impressive spell in the first ODI in Mohali, conceding only 43 runs in ten overs.
Meanwhile, talking about Kumar, the right-arm pacer was impressive with the ball in the ODI series against the hosts in the Caribbean, picking four wickets at an economy of 4.60. However, in Bumrah’s absence, his bowling partner Mohammed Siraj will likely make his return after being rested in the first game.
