Stand-in Indian captain KL Rahul had an off day with the gloves in the ongoing first ODI against Australia, as he missed an easy run-out chance besides dropping a few dollies behind the stumps. However, the keeper-batter had a bizarre moment of redemption, pulling off a sensational stumping, albeit unintentionally, to dismiss Marnus Labuschagne.

After opting to bowl, India had a dream start to the game, as Mohammed Shami dismissed Mitchell Marsh with a peach in the first over. However, the veteran duo of David Warner and Steve Smith formed a brilliant consolidating stand to steady the Australian ship before being dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja and Shami, respectively.

Meanwhile, Labuschagne, who was comfortably batting on 39, couldn't convert the start into a big score, with Ashwin claiming his wicket in the 33rd over.

It was a flatter delivery from Ashwin, as Labuschagne attempted for an audacious reverse sweep. However, he ended up edging the ball straight to Indian keeper KL Rahul, who committed another blunder by dropping a sharp chance.

However, fortunately for India, the ball, after being deflected off Rahul's gloves, pitched on the ground before dislodging the bails. The Indian players appealed for a stumping, and the third umpire adjudged the batter out after finding him short of the crease.

As of writing, Australia are 166 for four in 35.4 overs, with Cameron Green and Josh Inglis batting on 21* and 3*, respectively.
