On Thursday, December 26, Zimbabwe locked horns against Afghanistan in the first of a two-match Test series. The hosts won the toss and opted to bat first. The Craig Ervine-led side started positively and have put 92/2 on the board after lunch on day 1. 

Debutant Ben Curran hogged the internet as he played an impressive 68 (74), which featured 11 fours. The internet was filled with praise for Curran, and also the critics were impressed with Ben's batting. 

Soon there were questions doing round on the internet about whether Ben is related to CSK star Sam Curran? Well, for the unversed, it is worth noting that Ben Curran is Sam Curran and Tom Curran's brother. 

Ben Curran And His Connection With Sam Curran

The 28-year-old was born in Northampton on 7/6/1996. Curran is the son of former Zimbabwe cricketer Kevin Curran, who played domestic cricket in England, but later moved to Zimbabwe to play international cricket for the African nation. 

Kevin Curran was associated with Zimbabwe for a long time and also served as the head coach from 2005-2007. Meanwhile, Ben made his international debut against Afghanistan on December 17 in the ODI series. He is following his father's legacy. He too has played domestic cricket in England and represented the MCC Young Cricketers, Northamptonshire and the Nottinghamshire Second XI.

It is worth noting that CSK star Sam Curran, who was England's hero in their title-winning 2022 T20 World Cup, was also raised in Zimbabwe and did his schooling there. However, unlike his brother Ben and father Kevin, he and his other brother Tom Curran decided to play international cricket for England.
