Sam Curran and Tom Curran's brother, Ben Curran, has earned his maiden call-up to play for Zimbabwe in the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan. Following his impressive domestic performances with Northamptonshire, the 28-year-old will be seen with the Zimbabwe squad at Harare Sports Club on December 17.

In addition to Ben, Zimbabwe has also called up left-arm pacer Newman Nyamhuri, who will be added to both the ODI and T20I squads after his outstanding performance in the U-19 World Cup held in South Africa.

Ben Curran's Promising Career Earns Maiden Call-Up

Ben Curran made a strong start to his T20 career with Northamptonshire. After excelling in the Second XI, where he scored 490 runs in just six matches, he was promoted to the first team. His T20 Blast debut came against Derbyshire, where he continued his good form by scoring 251 runs at an average of 31.38.

Ben's domestic career have also been quite impressive. The Northampton-born player has participated in 45 First-Class matches, accumulating 2,429 runs, including 3 centuries and 12 half-centuries. He has also played 36 List A matches, where he recorded one century and 8 half-centuries.

In addition to participating in the Zim T10 and T20 Blast League, Ben is currently playing for Rhino in the Pro50 Championship 2024/25, where he has been leading the run-scorer charts with 258 runs in 4 matches, averaging 64.50.

Notably, Ben Curran and Nyamhuri has been selected to replace Faraz Akram, Brandon Mavuta, and Clive Madande, who have been out due to injury and selection adjustment concerns.

Nevertheless, with this call-up, Ben will aim to prove himself with the bat, just like his brothers, Tom and Sam Curran have done as both of them are World Cup winners with England.
