On Thursday, December 26, Virat Kohli was in the news after he got involved in a physical altercation with 19-year-old Sam Konstas. The right-hand batter was toying with Indian bowlers, which is when Virat nudged Konstas at the end of the over while switching sides. 

In the latest events, Virat has accepted his offence, and the ICC has slapped him with a heavy fine of 20% match fees. Meanwhile, this article will shed light on Virat's fees and how much amount will he take home after the Melbourne Test. 

What Is Virat Kohli's Match Fees In Test Cricket?

Virat is a Grade A+ cricketer, but it has nothing to do with his match fees. It is worth noting that every Indian cricketer earns 15 lakhs for a Test match. Thus, Kohli too gets 15 lakhs for every red-ball game.

Virat Kohli's Match Fees After Deduction

Since Virat has been fined 20% of his match fees, then the former India cricketer will be fined 3 lakhs of his match fees and earn just 12 lakhs for the Melbourne Test.

However, for the unversed, BCCI introduced a new scheme earlier this year, where they announced a massive fee hike for regular Test cricketers. According to the latest initiative, any cricketer who will play more than 75% of Test matches in a year, will earn additional match fees of 30 lakhs, making it to 45 lakhs per match.  

However, Virat has played just 10 matches out of 15, which makes his participation in  less than 75% of the total Tests in 2024. Thus, Virat Kohli won't be earning the addition 30 lakhs per match fees.
