In a significant development, famed IPL player Lockie Ferguson and his national teammate Matt Henry are set to replace the Pakistani duo of Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf in the Welsh Fire setup in The Hundred 2023. Notably, Afridi and Rauf will leave the Fire's camp and travel to Sri Lanka to represent Pakistan in the upcoming three-match ODI series against the host nation. As reported by ESPN Cricinfo, Welsh Fire have recommended Ferguson and Henry as their replacements, sending the relevant documents to the ECB to complete formalities.

Afridi and Rauf had outstanding starts to their Hundred 2023 campaign, starring for Welsh Fire with the ball against Manchester Originals and Southern Brave, respectively. While Afridi has emerged as a brute force with the new ball, Rauf has constantly troubled the opponent batters with his scorching pace.

Meanwhile, talking about Henry, the crafty seamer was impressive in the T20 Blast this season, playing a vital role in powering Somerset to the title. The right-arm seamer finished the tournament as the highest wicket-taker, with 31 scalps to his name.

On the other hand, Ferguson has a plethora of experience in playing T20 leagues around the world. The KKR seamer has also been an integral member of New Zealand's white-ball teams for quite a few years now.

Both players have also been included in New Zealand's squad for a four-match T20I series against England beginning right after The Hundred.
