One of the most exciting matches of the ongoing The Hundred 2023 Men took place last evening between Welsh Fire and Oval Invincibles at The Oval, which ended in a tie. Opting to bat first, Fire scored 138 with Joe Clarke top-scoring with 69 as Gus Atkinson rocked their middle-order.

Invincibles courtesy of a cameo from Tom Curran, who scored 38 off 18 ended up tying the match, with Jordon Cox scoring a fifty up the order.

However, it was Pakistan's Shaheen Shah Afridi who shone brightly once again for Welsh with his performance, claiming two wickets, which includes a first-ball wicket of the ever-dangerous Jason Roy.

Afridi, known for his ability to swing the ball both ways, has mastered the art of picking first-ball wickets across formats.

Roy, who plays for Oval, ended up slicing a low full-toss ball on the off-stump to Glen Phillips, who was stationed at backward point managed to hang on to a tough diving catch.

Afridi's second wicket was of Cox, who looked well set on 51.  The 23-year-old is the leading wicket-taker in the competition with 5 from three matches. Interestingly, Afridi since making his T20 debut has the most number of first-ball dismissals (42).

The Welsh Fire are placed third in the points table, with three points, and will face Birmingham Phoenix on Thursday.
