Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has reportedly taken legal action against his ex-wife, Ayesha Mukherjee, alleging threats to his career and reputation. Reports suggest that Ayesha sent defamatory messages to Dheeraj Malhotra, CEO of Dhawan's Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Delhi Capitals.

The experienced cricketer claims that his former spouse is attempting to defame him, leading to the case being taken up by the Patiala court in Delhi. While a restraining order has been issued against Ayesha, she retains the right to address her grievances through appropriate channels.

A judge at the Patiala Court emphasized the significance of safeguarding one's reputation, stating,

"Reputation of a person is dear to everyone and… it has to be protected."

Dhawan and Ayesha Mukherjee's separation has been the subject of ongoing media coverage, though neither party has publicly discussed the matter. The Patiala Court's recent hearing instructed Ayesha, who has divorced the senior Indian cricketer, to bring their son Zoravar to India, enabling the child to meet his father and extended family.

Shikhar, the left-handed Indian opener, married Ayesha, who was already a mother of two daughters, in 2014. The couple welcomed a son named Zoravar before parting ways in 2021 after eight years of marriage.

Following their divorce, Ayesha, an Australian citizen, permanently relocated to Australia. Since 2021, Dhawan has been embroiled in a legal battle with his ex-wife over the custody of their nine-year-old son, Zoravar, who has not seen his father since 2020.

Recently, the Patiala Court directed Ayesha, who has custody of their son Zoravar, to bring him to India so he can meet his father and extended family.

On the cricket front, Dhawan has been absent from the Indian team for a period, missing out on selection for the ODI series against the West Indies. The emergence of young talents like Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal has contributed to Dhawan losing his spot in the playing eleven under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma for Team India.
