The Nepal Cricket Team has emerged as one of the best-performing teams among emerging nations. They surprised the cricketing world by qualifying for the ICC World Cup 2024 and showcased outstanding performances in the Asia Cup.

Despite their achievements and breaking multiple records, Nepal lacks a proper domestic structure to unearth hidden gems. Monty Desai, the head coach of the Nepal Cricket Team, has requested more resources, investments, and structural support to solidify their position as a formidable force in international cricket. Additionally, the team recently retained their ODI status until 2027.

In a candid interview with a sports media outlet, Nepal's head coach, Monty Desai, put forth both a request and a business proposition to the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises. Emphasising the remarkable growth of cricket in Nepal, he expressed the view that the sport there requires substantial investments to establish itself as a mainstay in international cricket. Desai stated:

"We are also trying to look at companies with good credentials to come and invest in Nepal T20 leagues. Nepal has a huge potential in terms of eyeballs. There are thirty-five million people."

In an earnest plea to the owners of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises, Monty Desai urged them to extend their reach to Nepal, akin to their endeavors in establishing Major League Cricket in the United States. He invited the owners to witness the fervor of live cricket matches in Nepal and consider investing in the growth and development of cricket in the country. Desai articulated:

"The IPL main franchises have gone all the way to the USA. They are investing there. All the IPL franchises should visit and experience a live game in Nepal. There is no question that why you would not invest into Nepal."

Monty Desai, in a heartfelt appeal to the devoted fans of Nepal cricket, implored them to exhibit humility and composure irrespective of the team's outcomes. He commended the fans for their unwavering support, acknowledging their dedication to traveling alongside the team. Expressing optimism, Desai envisaged Nepal transitioning from an associate nation to a full-time member on the international cricket stage.
