Mark Wood's Injury: A Big Blow To England?
However, the Three Lions suffered a huge setback during the first half of the match, as ace speedster Mark Wood injured his left knee.
Wood, who participated despite a strapped knee, could bowl only four overs before an awkward fall aggravated his injury. As a result, he limped off the field, with serious doubts looming over his participation in the remainder of the match.
Will Mark Wood Miss IPL 2025 Due To Injury?
Mark Wood has been a regular face in the Indian Premier League over the last few years. He has represented Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow SuperGiants. However, frequent injury setbacks have limited his IPL appearances to a mere five matches, in which he has scalped eleven wickets at a magnificent average of 16.27 and a strike rate of 10.91.
Despite his impressive returns in brief IPL stints with CSK and LSG, Mark Wood failed to bag a contract in the mega auction last year. He had registered for the mega auction but couldn't get himself shortlisted in the final list.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) didn't grant him the NOC to feature in the IPL 2025, keeping the Ashes in mind. Therefore, if Mark Wood gets sidelined from the Champions Trophy, none of the IPL 2025 teams will be affected.
