Rishabh Pant is a hot commodity ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, as the star player is attracting interest from almost all the franchises. There are reports that Pant wants an escape route and doesn't want to play for Delhi Capitals in the IPL.
Currently leading the Delhi Capitals, Pant has gained considerable interest in the IPL auction and knows that if he enters the auction pool, he'll fetch big money. Moreover, there are several teams who are looking for captaincy material, and Pant fits that bill as well.
As per a recent report by TOI, IPL side, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are keeping an eye on Pant as they want to secure his services ahead of the next season.
RCB are likely to release their captain, Faf du Plessis, and with Dinesh Karthik also retiring, they need a captain and a keeper, and Pant can play the dual role for them.
Still 27, Pant has a lot of cricket left in him and RCB can get a long-term captaincy option if the star player arrives in their side.
Pant unhappy with DC management
As per reports, Pant is unhappy with the DC team management. The owners sacked Ricky Ponting as the head coach, and Ponting was Pant's close ally. Moreover, Sourav Ganguly was also removed as team's director, a decision which has triggered Pant's decision.
Earlier, reports circulated that CSK are also eyeing Pant as the long-term captaincy option. MS Dhoni stepped down from the captaincy post and gave the armband to Ruturaj Gaikwad. However, there is a belief that Dhoni is a huge admirer of the southpaw and wants the CSK management to rope in the keeper-batter in CSK side.
