IPL 2025 Auction: KKR Wins Ego Battle With RCB; Buy Venkatesh Iyer For 23.75 Crores

KKR have taken the IPL 2025 mega-auction by storm as they have bought Venkatesh Iyer for a whopping 23.75 crores. Their buy makes him the joint-third highest paid player in IPL history.

Notably, KKR was involved in a bidding war with RCB, but the defending champions won the battle and re-availed the services of one of their best batters. 

Iyer had brilliant last two seasons with the bat as he scored 370 runs in IPL 2024 and 404 runs in IPL 2023. 

KKR And RCB Involved In A Bidding War

As soon as the auctioneer took Venkatesh Iyer's name, he was expected to fetch big bucks, but no one expectd him to go for such a massive price. As expected, KKR started the bidding war, but RCB too joined him and were adament to get him but bowed down to KKR's resllience. 

With 23.75 crores, Iyer will see a massive rise in his salary as he earlier earned just 8 crores. 

Iyer Becomes Highest Paid All-Rounder In IPL History

Notably, with 23.75 crores, Iyer has now become the highest-paid all-rounder in IPL history, surpassing record held by Sam Curran, when PBKS bought him for 18.25 crores in IPL 2023 auction. 

It is to be seen whether Iyer will be considered as a captain by KKR as he alongside Mitchell Starc, becomes their highest paid player in IPL history. 

Venkatesh Iyer IPL Career And History

Venkatesh Iyer made his IPL debut in 2021 for KKR when he was bought for just 20 lakhs. He rose through the ranks and in 51 appearances, he has amassed 1326 runs.
