Jake Fraser-McGurk, the swashbuckling Aussie wicketkeeper batter will be playing for Delhi Capitals again, as the franchise decided to use the RTM in the IPL 2025 mega auction. They outfoxed Punjab Kings who first won the bidding process at 5.50 Crore. However, DC decided to use RTM and when Punjab increased the amount to 9 Crore, the Delhi-based franchise accepted the offer with both hands.
Jake Fraser-McGurk had a base price of 2 Crore and it was DC who started the bidding for the Aussie. PBKS joined in with 2.20 Crore while LSG joined the battle and then DC backed away for a bit as his price increased to 5.50 Crore. However, DC then decided to jump into the proceedings and Punjab's inflated price of 9 Crore also could not help them keep the batter.
Jake Fraser-McGurk Impressed In The 2024 IPL
Jake Fraser-McGurk was brilliant in the 2024 season as he smashed 330 runs at a strike-rate of 234.04. He can take the game away from the opposition in a flash, if he gets going, and he could be a game-changer for DC in the 2025 season, just like he was in the previous edition. He has recently played for Australia as well and could be a good long-term option for DC as he grows in experience and stature in world cricket.
DC came into IPL auction with a purse of 73 Crore and before McGurk, they also bought the likes of KL Rahul, Mitchell Starc and Harry Brook.
