The Indian external affairs cabinet minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, is currently on his official trip to the United Kingdom, where he met the UK’s first-ever Indian-origin prime minister, Rishi Sunak.

Sunak, with his wife, Akshata Murty, hosted Jaishankar at Downing Street on the occasion of Diwali. After exchanging greetings, the Indian minister surprised the UK PM with a unique Diwali gift.

Mr. Jaishankar handed over a special ‘Genius MRF Virat Kohli Run Machine’ edition cricket bat to Rishi Sunak, which had the Indian batting stalwart’s autograph imprinted on it. A cricket fanatic, Sunak seemed delighted by Jaishankar’s gesture as he shared pictures of the exchange on his official X handle.

The UK prime minister is known to be an avid cricket lover. He once invited the England cricket team to 10 Downing Street for a game and played textbook cricketing shots.

Not only that, Rishi Sunak engaged in friendly banter with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese earlier this year. At an international summit in Lithuania, the duo poked fun at one another over the controversial events surrounding the recently concluded Ashes test series.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli celebrated Diwali in style by putting on an all-round show against the Netherlands on Sunday. He played an anchor inning of 51 of 56 deliveries to set up the stage for Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, who ended up with maiden World Cup hundreds.

Having said that, Virat Kohli stole the show in the second innings by clipping the wicket of Netherlands captain Scott Edwards. It was his first international wicket since 2016.

Moreover, the entire team looked in good spirits, as every player except Iyer and keeper Rahul ended up on the blowing list. Even skipper Rohit Sharma had a wicket on his tally. At the end of 50 overs, India won by 160 runs to finish the ICC Men's World Cup group stages unbeaten.
